Purpose of GCI
We believe that the Holy Scriptures are the inerrant and infallible word of God and are our only guide for faith and life. We adhere to the Doctrines of the Reformed Tradition (The Westminster Confession of Faith and the Larger and Shorter Catechisms). We believe in the ordinary means of grace, namely the teaching/preaching of the Word of God, Prayer, and the Sacraments.
We seek to obey the Great Commandment:
37 Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ 38 This is the first and greatest commandment. 39 And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ 40 All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.”
…and we seek to obey the Great Commission:
18 Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”
Therefore Grace Church exists to be a worshipping community of believers who seek to Know God and Make Him Known by Loving God (1 John 5:3) and loving people (1 John 3:16).
Grace Church of the Islands is a member of the Presbyterian Church in America.
