Interim Pastor

Rev. Merle Messer

We are excited to announce that after months of prayer, evaluation, sermon listening, and interviews, the Session has extended a call to Rev. Merle Messer to be our Interim Pastor. Dr. Messer has accepted the call and will officially serve as Interim Pastor beginning October 1, 2018. We welcome Merle and his wife, Donna.
Ruling Elder

David Roulo

David is married to Cathy and has 2 grown children. The family began attending GCI in 2000. Dave served as a Deacon for 8 years and also served many years as Church Treasurer. He has taught Sunday School for many years. David was elected and installed as a Ruling Elder in 2017.
Ruling Elder-Emeritus

Tom Taylor

Tom was elected as a ruling elder at GCI in 2011. Prior to coming to Savannah in 2009 he served on the Session of Grace Covenant PCA (1984-1992). He also served as Recording Clerk and Stated Clerk of the James River Presbytery (1990-2010). In 2017 the GCI Session approved his request for emeritus status. Allan Chagan

Allan Chagan and his wife Peggy Jo (“PJ”) moved to Savannah from Philadelphia, PA in 2015 and became members at Grace Church of the Islands (GCI) in 2016. In 2017, Allan was elected and installed as a Deacon at GCI where he also serves on the Stewardship Ministry Team. PJ is a member of the choir at GCI and is Secretary of the Women’s Ministry Council. Deacon – Chairman

Ron Nichols

Ron was born and raised in Savannah and is one of the founding members of GCI. He was installed as a deacon in 2005 and is Chair of the Hospitality Committee. He helped design the Boston Butt pit and is master chef over the cooking. He is married to his wife Donna.
Deacon – Emeritus

Richard Towns

Richard was born in Savannah and raised in the Presbyterian church. He came to Grace Church in 2000 as a Deacon from Providence Presbyterian Church. He and his wife, Jackie, have four children that live in Savannah. Richard is a Board Member for the International Seaman’s House, President of his Neighborhood Association, a Barbershop singer, and has trained and served as a Green Beret.
